Soul Coaxing...
The output from a Moving Coil cartridge is low. How low? At the lowest signals, there is only just a single electron passing across a transistor’s junction - they don’t get any smaller than that. Signal degradation is never far away. (The single electron theory - forward by O Jones of Pink Triangle during development of the revolutionary Pip pre-amplifier).
As a result, the arm cable has to be very special and not be responsible for any loss of resolution.
Soul Coaxing is the very highest performance of cables, designed by Funk, specifically to cope with these smallest of signals. Soul Coaxing does so by controlling the dielectric characteristics between the two conductors, crucial in this application given the lack of signal we have to play with.
In keeping with so much else that Funk has to offer, Soul Coaxing is fully hand made in specified lengths for each application. It is NOT bought off a reel.
Soul Coaxing cannot be mass manufactured and then coiled on a reel - it would be ruined
...and Flexi-Link
Standard on the LP12 is specific dressing of the arm cable so as to get the best from the set up. Unfortunately this entails partial shorting out of the suspension – thereby explaining the sensitivity to support and positioning.
With Vector Link, coupling to the top plate has been removed and we can go so much further in terms of system isolation and cable performance. To permit the suspension to operate freely then and without the aforementioned constraint, Soul Coaxing comes available with a flexi-link attachment and is designed to directly fit virtually all arms with detachable cables –including Ittok, Ekos, and SMEs 309 / IV / V.

Re-wire service
Ittok: To take maximum benefit from the above Soul Coaxing Flexi-Link cable, Funk now offers a full internal re-wire service for Ittok, using our own custom made arm wire.
This service is also available to Regas.
Re-wiring for Regas includes the important additional benefit of creating a coherent earth by the provision of a separate internal ground point at the headshell – not done with any other modification we are aware of at this time.
Tedious to perform, this is the way arms should be shielded to get the best from your cartridge as it improves the noise floor by removing air borne electrical interference.
